After that, he goes to HNK Branitelj and stays club manager for 4 years.[1] In the meantime, he earned UEFA PRO license. His ambition was to take bigger clubs, like Široki Brijeg or Zrinjski one day.[2] In 2010, Slaven and his team, HNK Branitelj made a sensation, by eliminating first division club FK Leotar from Bosnian Cup. In November 2010, he was appointed as Zrinjski manager, and his long time wish finally came through.
